Mad Dog Morgan
History is everywhere in Henty. The bushranger “Mad Dog Morgan” operated in the area during his bushranging stint. Two kilometres west of the town on Pleasant Hills Rd is a memorial stone near the site where Morgan shot Sergeant Thomas Smyth in September 1864.Smyth had been in pursuit of Morgan, who was wanted for several murders. Morgan crept into Smyth’s tent at night and shot the sleeping Sergeant. If your interested in Australian history why not come and take a look?
